What first attracted me to the brand is ultimately what it’s about and what it stands for. It provides great food and wine in a great atmosphere and brings people together. The attention to detail in this brand is fantastic and it stands out from the crowd. For example, smarties with every hot drink, you will only get that at All Bar One. It’s really all these small touches that make it. I also wanted to work in a fast paced energetic environment and All Bar One is all that and more. Everyday is different and never the same, which is what I love.
Originally I began working in the hospitality industry along side my studies when I was 16. I fell in love with the fast paced challenging and energetic environment of hospitality instantly. When I finished University I began to look and explore Graduate Schemes, and those in hospitality. Mitchells and Butlers scheme stood out immediately to me ,as the values they hold such as passion, pride, innovation, drive and engagement mirrored my own. Now a year and half into my scheme I have not only developed, learnt and grown as a manager, but also a person. Most importantly the scheme allows you drive your own development and really take charge of your own career. It combines on the job learning with workshops to give you all the skills you need.Now not only do I have the role as assistant manager but also a district trainer, allowing me to help, support and train others. Even though Mitchell and Butlers is a large company it feels like a family at the same time. There is always help and support when you need it and people are always there to help, develop and push your progression. I look forward to what the next year and a half brings.

I know everybody must say this about their teams but mine are fantastic and without them we couldn’t do the things we do and deliver the service we do. The team really make the place, they are passionate and always work together and support each other.
I wanted to work for ABO as I wanted a flexible job after graduating from University and, having worked in bars before, All Bar One seemed a great choice. The brand in particular was very appealing, especially its extensive wine menu allowing guests to have a taste of many different types of wine from all over the world and its unique cocktail menu featuring twists on some classic drinks. Two years after graduating and I’m still here!
I started as a bartender at ABO Liverpool and gradually increased my hours from part time. After a few months I started doing Cocktail Masterclasses, which I took to immediately and quickly became my favourite part of the job. It was great to be able to share my passion for cocktails and their stories with our guests and pass on my knowledge. The position of Head Bartender was then created, which I took up at ABO King Street. This increased my responsibility on the bar, now being responsible for the quality and consistency of the drinks we serve and ensuring that our team are up to date with their knowledge. Again it was good to be able to pass on my knowledge and passion for our drinks to the team.
Different every day
A perfect day at work would be a very busy shift, where everything runs smoothly, with a couple of masterclasses thrown in for good measure.
I love the fact that every day is different, and every guest is different. We get to meet many different people, from many different walks of life and it is pleasure to give them great service. Masterclasses in particular allow for some great interaction with guests and it’s inspiring when they take a real interest in what we are making.
The team at King Street are fantastic. They all take real pleasure in the service they provide and are great with our guests. We have some very busy days here, particularly in the run up to Christmas, and our team all get stuck in and continue to work with the utmost professionalism under real pressure.
I wanted to work for All Bar One , because of the great variety of food we serve and as a chef it’s highly engaging to be involved with the of complexity of dishes and flavours All Bar One offers.
I’ve worked with Mitchell’s and Butlers now for 6 and a half years having started in Harvester as a grill chef moving my way up through the ranks and 3 of the brands in that time.
As an accredited kitchen manager my role is varied, challenging, and rewarding.
I love All Bar One because no two days are the same, one day you could have a big function on and the whole bars having a buffet to a show nearby and service is crazy or cooking a 3 course sit down menu.
My team have all been with me well over a year now and everyone is like a family we work together extremely well don’t like to let each other down and strive to serve the best food possible.
